Adnan Belushi, Co-founder of Johnson Corner has become the Startup Grind Chapter Director for New Plymouth, which will bring together founders and thought leaders throughout the region with four major events and guest speakers from across the country every year.
Director and Founder of Girlboss New Zealand, Alexia Hilbertidou is confirmed as the first guest speaker for Startup Grind New Plymouth. Girlboss is an organisation that empowers young women to challenge gender stereotypes in the workforce. Alexia is passionate about getting women into entrepreneurship, leadership, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Through her advocacy work. Alexia has spoken at over 50 events, inspiring 20,000 young people, teachers, and professionals. In 2016, Hilbertidou won the Young Leader Award, an award given to the most influential New Zealand woman under at the age of 25.
Building Creative Infrastructure for New Plymouth
“I’m excited to bring Startup Grind to New Plymouth, this is a great opportunity to increase entrepreneurial activity in New Plymouth and also, connect the New Plymouth Innovation Ecosystem to 400 cities. Startup Grind is a powerful global network, that local entrepreneurs can leverage” says Adnan Belushi.

Hence, the ultimate goal for bringing Startup Grind to New Plymouth is to increase New Plymouth city’s connectivity with the global entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
As the Co-founder of Johnson Corner, Adnan has already launched many other initiatives to build creative infrastructure for New Plymouth, making it an attractive entrepreneurial city to the world’s next-generation talent.
